Miss Li : Dancing the whole way home [2009]

Linda Carlsson aka Miss Li is a Swedish singer. Miss Li’s musical style is a mix of jazz, cabaret and blues. Her lyrics are naive and simple and full of life.
In high school she was in a metal band called Nobody and later on also called Livia Gray

Miss Li’s first record Late Night Heartbroken Blues was recorded and released late 2006 and spawned the singles Oh Boy and High On You.
The sophomore album God Put A Rainbow In The Sky was released just four months later in May 2007, the lead single from the album was the song I’m sorry, he’s mine. A song about how she stole her best friends boyfriend just because she wanted him over the night.
She continued to release new albums in record speed when her new album Songs of a Rag Doll was released October 19th 2007 and she had now released three albums within a year. She told Swedish Groove magazine that vacation for her meant going into the studio. The album came with the single Gotta Leave My Troubles Behind which had some success on the Swedish “tracks” charts where the people of Sweden vote for their favorite songs each week.
In 2007 she was also featured on the famous Swedish artist Lars Winnerbäcks lead single PlayOm du lämnade mig nu from his album Daugava. The single became a huge hit and was Nr. 1 on the track charts as well as the singles charts and lead to national recognition for Miss Li.
In 2008 she released the compilation album Best Of 061122-071122 which included her best songs from the past three albums and some unreleased material including the song Good Morning

In the summer of 2008 she sang the song Oh Boy on the popular Sing-A-Long show Allsång På Skansen that has over a million viewers every week.
This lead to the single becoming far more popular than it was at its first release, it is currently Nr. 8 on the Swedish singles charts.

People of the world! At last! The biggest and most brightly shining star on the Swedish pop-heaven –Miss Li – is ready for the second chapter of her career. with the new brilliant album Dancing the whole way home that hits the streets 1st of April.

Titiyo: Hidden [2008]

Titiyos första album sedan 2001 är också det första där hon själv står för merparten av materialet. Ett av spåren är en version av “Longing For Lullabies”, succésamarbetet med Kleerup från tidigare år.

Albumet “Hidden” innebär Titiyos femte soloalbum och kan sägas vara Titiyos första “egna” platta. För första gången är utgångspunkten helt eget material. Delar av låtmaterialet är samarbeten med låtskrivare/musiker/producenter som Goran Kajfes, David Nyström,Moto Boy och Andreas Kleerup. På den senares relativt färska debutplatta gör Titiyo låten “Longing For Lulelabies”, som i en annan version finns med även på “Hidden”.

Om “Come Along” delvis förändrade uppfattningen om Titiyo kommer “Hidden” att vrida scenariot ytterligare bort från etiketten “svensk souldrottning”.

Titiyo använder gärna uttrycket “kraut” när hon beskriver sin platta. D v s kraut som i tysk sökande popmusik. Det kanske är att ta i att kalla detta kraut – även om det på plattan finns sekvenser när man göra jämförelser med allt från Kraftwerk och Can och senare tiders krautinfluerade artister i genrer som house/techno/triphop. Men lägg till ordet “soul” så uppstår “krautsoul”, en kanske möjlig definition av en platta som kan vara oändligt vacker, men som också kan vara nervigt sökande.

Det mest uppenbara soulmomentet på plattan står premiärsingeln “Stumbe to Fall” för. Tidigare lyssnare av låten har jämfört med såväl Marianne Faithful som Amy Whinehouse som Donny Hathaway. Den låt som tydligast kopplar till singeln “Longing For Lullabies” är inledande “Awakening”, även den skriven ihop med Andreas Kleerup. En trolig tidig singel är balladen “If Only Beds Could Cry”, en duett med den uppmärksamamde Malmönykomlingen Moto Boy. Den mest radikala “krautsoulen” finns i den nästan åtta minuter långa “Drunken Gnome”.

Marit Bergman: Tear collector

New album March 25: “The tear collector”.
So, I know I said I might never release an album ever again. But there is something about this whole set up with releasing one song a month that got something going in my head, I..ve written such an insane amount of songs this year. After a while I started thinking, wouldn..t this song and this song and this song go really well together? The thought of the album started to grow and here we are.
The album will contain 14 songs, of which some will have been previously released throughout the year, but most of them will be brand new to everyone.
It will be released on Sugartoy/Sony in Sweden March 25 and I..m working on getting releases elsewhere as well, of course.
I will also continue doing the subscription service.

Det är 37 år sedan Cornelis spelade in Grammisvinnande dubbelskivan “Poem, ballader och lite blues”. Nu har den svenska artisteliten klivit in i samma studio på Karlbergsvägen i Stockholm för att spela in exakt samma platta igen…
